Jeff Milchen is a national leader in helping build vital local economies by supporting local independent business. He co-founded the American Independent Business Alliance, which helps communities nationwide launch coalitions to help independent businesses thrive and advance sustainable community prosperity. These local alliances are based on the model Jeff pioneered in the 1990s. Since 2001, the American Independent Business Alliance has helped more than 100 communities form local alliances, "Buy Local" campaigns and other programs to support local entrepreneurs. Jeff also is a prominent advocate for independent business and entrepreneurs as a speaker and writer, advocating for their interests in publications including The Washington Post, Chicago Tribune, The Ecologist, Adbusters and Inc. Magazine.
